The name Roliqueryä came up after months of “namestorming” for this product. While first mentioned as a joke, we realized “that’s it!” Since then, the term has expanded to include:

Roliquerist – one who exhibits them

Roliquerium – its special sandbox

Roliqueried,-ing – the act of using

Roliquerian – An enthusiast

Roliquery ä Art & Accessories

A Roliquery ä begins with a limestone ball that is hand-carved with an original design. For an interactive art experience, roll it in sand to create ephemeral and renewable sculptural patterns.

Limited edition casts of each original Limestone Roliquery ä are cast in Bonded Mineral or Bronze. Roliqueries can be displayed indoors or outdoors and come in 7 and 12 inch sizes. Bonded Mineral casts are limited to 100 editions while bronze casts are limited to 25 editions. Each Roliquery ä comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.

Roliquery ä accessories include a variety of displays, for indoor or outdoor use, made from cherry, maple, black lacquer or stainless steel.

Roliquery ä Materials

Limestone

For Amy, nothing has the integrity of stone. Every Roliquery ä begins with Amy’s original carving in Indiana limestone. Her technique is grounded in traditional handwork. She starts with a perfectly turned ball, carving all the designs by hand, without the use of power tools. There’s a sense of history and memory implicit in Indiana limestone: its sedimentary layers are filled with the fossils of millions of tiny prehistoric creatures.

Bronze	Bronze is beautiful and timeless. Amy’s pieces are cast using a traditional lost-wax method, using high grade molds made from the carved limestone originals. The hand-applied patina accentuates all the depth and detail. Bronze is wonderful to touch, and every touch adds to the deeper patina that it acquires over time.
